EVOLUTION OF PERSONAL STYLE
After receiving a BFA in Idaho, Susan moved to Texas where she developed her blacksmithing skills. Susan worked for Stanley Architects and Artisans, a blacksmithing shop specializing in architectural iron work. During this time she also related her skills by teaching basic blacksmithing to students.
In 2000, Susan relocated to New England. She now focuses on designing and creating custom metalwork out of her studio in Stonington, Connecticut. Susan has received the Connecticut Artist Fellowship Award in Crafts and two residencies at the Vermont Sculpture Studio. She has recently returned from Vechta, Germany, where she was invited to participate in Ferro 2005, an international blacksmithing event. Susan's work has been shown nationally has also been featured in several publications.
