Ted has worked as an armorer, knifemaker, silversmith, machinist and fabricator. Ted sold his first armor in 1981 and now specializes in late German gothic style plate armor. Other armor commissions have included Roman, Japanese, and Fantasy. Ted was a member of the SCA and other groups for more than 20 years, where his work was recognized with many awards. His client base is diverse - including colleges, churches, theaters, doctors' offices, weddings, etc.
Ted was born in France and has traveled throughout England, France and Germany. Besides a BA degree in History from Francis Marion University, he has studied art, engineering and metal fabrication at several schools. He has taught Art Enrichment Programs in schools across SC, WV, and OH.
Endlessly researching, Ted studies every available example of Medieval & Renaissance Metalwork in books, films, museums, and churches. His work balances History, Art & Engineering; he strives to make his work elegant, intricate and very, very clean. An active member of WV's ABA, Ted constructed a gothic style ring selected for installation in the 2006 ABANA Conference Affiliate Grill. Besides blacksmithing, Ted also builds Power Hammers, Robots and Guitars.
